Your Insurance Requirements
Insurance Requirements for All Laundry Lady Contractors
As part of your Independent Contractor Agreement, you are required to maintain two forms of active insurance throughout the duration of your contract:
1. Public Liability Insurance (Minimum $2 Million)
You must hold an active public liability policy with a minimum coverage of $2,000,000 CAD. This protects both you and the company against claims related to accidental property damage, injury, or loss that may occur while performing Laundry Lady services.
Ongoing requirement
- Your coverage must remain active at all times during your contract.
- If your insurer, coverage level, address, or named insureds change, you must upload an updated certificate of insurance immediately.
- Allowing your policy to lapse is a breach of your contractor agreement and may result in suspension from receiving bookings until proof of coverage is restored.
2. Automobile Insurance – Minimum $1 Million Liability
Because you are providing a pickup and delivery service, you must hold an automobile insurance policy that includes a minimum of $1,000,000 CAD in third-party liability coverage.
Ongoing requirement
- Your auto insurance must remain valid and current for the duration of your contract.
- If your insurer changes, coverage updates, a vehicle is added/removed, or your address changes, you must upload an updated copy of your insurance documents.
Submitting Your Insurance Documents
As part of your application and onboarding steps, you were required to upload a Certificate of Insurance (COI) for public liability and a copy of your current automobile policy showing your liability limits.
Once submitted, we record the expiry dates for each policy in our system.
Automatic Expiry Reminders
To help you stay compliant, our system sends automated reminder emails before your insurance expires. These reminders begin well ahead of the expiry date so that you have time to renew your policy and upload your updated documents.
Important:
You are still responsible for ensuring your coverage does not lapse.
If your insurance expires without renewal, your account may be paused until updated documents are provided.
What to Do When Your Insurance Renews or Changes
If anything changes with your policy, including, but not limited to:
- renewal or new expiry date
- change of provider
- adding/removing insured individuals or vehicles
- change of address or business location
…you must provide an updated certificate or insurance document via email to support@laundrylady.ca.
Keeping this information current ensures you remain fully compliant with your contract and eligible to accept bookings.
