Weighing & Counting

Washing:

Regular washing is charged per 5kg/11lb load. We do not charge half loads. One load is approximately 5kgs/11lb weighed when dry.

Some items are bulky and require their own load. A king size duvet/blanket, for example, might be lightweight but bulky, thus we charge what will fit inside a 5kg/11lb drum.

Ironing:

Ironing is charged per item and there is different pricing according to each type of item. The per piece pricing for ironing is available on our website. Count a tally of each type of item to add to the invoice.

Weight-Based vs Volume-Based Items

Our pricing is based on two categories only:

1. Weight-Based Items (charged per 5kg/11lb load)

Anything that is standard clothing or linen is charged by weight.
This includes:

  • Clothing
  • Tea towels
  • Bath towels
  • Hand towels
  • Face washers
  • Standard sheets
  • Pillowcases
  • Any other everyday clothing or linen items.

Towels are always charged per 5kg/11lb, as they fall under standard washing.

If it fits comfortably into a standard wash as a “normal load,” it should be charged per 5kg/11lb.

2. Volume-Based Items (charged per item)

Volume-based pricing applies only to:

  • Blankets
  • Quilts, Comforters and Duvet inserts (non feather/down)

These items are explicitly listed in the pricing structure because they are thicker items that fill the washing machine drum based on their bulk rather than their weight.

Volume categories:

  • Single/Double Blanket or Comforter: up to 5kg /11lb volume
  • Queen/King Blanket or Comforter: 5–10kg (11lb - 22lb) volume

Unless the item is actually a blanket or comforter, it remains charged by weight.

If an item is extremely thick/fleece-lined and fills the drum like a small blanket, contractors can use their judgement, but should default to weight-based unless clearly comparable to a blanket and agreed to by the customer.

Tally sheet

To help you accurately track and count items during each ironing service, we provide a handy Tally Sheet template. We recommend printing and laminating this sheet so you can use a wipeable whiteboard marker for easy updates. This makes it simple to tally items like shirts, dresses, or tea towels as you sort, and then wipe clean after each job.
